Control Panel Display Defaults

Windows XP Prof ... System lost power ... Consequently, I
believe system performed an illegal shut-down ... From
here my college kids attempted to power up ... When
desktop did not look correct they altered "Control Panel
Display Settings" in effort to restore PC to original
state. We are not there ... I attempted 3-4 System
Restore Points, but continued to receive message that
system could not be restored to the Restore Point I was
selecting.

Bottom line ... Menus & text within are much smaller then
before this event happened ... That said ... how do I
restore my "Display settings (Control Panel Display) back
to their default settings???

If all elements of the display are smaller, change to a smaller desktop.
For example: Display properties > Settings: If using 1280x1024 move the
slider down to 1024x768.
