Hi,

Since this morning my IE6 seems to have lost the Control+Enter functionality
for inserting "http://www" before and ".com" after a domain name.

Does not really bother me, nor has it seemed to have affected overall
browsing functionality and ability anyway, however, it bothers the hell out
of me, merely by having happened.

Any information would be most welcome.

JP

PS: I carried out a full spyware and virus check and came up with nothing,
BTW.

Hi again,

I was able to address the issue.

Turns out that when I cleared the stored passwords and unchecked the options
to store form usernames and passwords, I also unchecked, by mistake, the
autocomplete functionality for URLs.

I had forgotten that this also let users complete URLs using the
Control+Enter keys.

Convincing, but distressing, indication of the unavoidable onset of age,
perhaps.

Regards.

Hi again, again,

This an apology for using JP's account to post the above response!

I was responsible for changing things around in IE and JP noticed it and
posted it here!

Three slightly-over-middle-age (and perhapy somewhat prematurely senile)
entities using one computer for browsing newsgroups and posting and
responding to messages does create mix-ups more often than we care to
admit!!! Maybe someday one will get off the proverbial butt and configure an
identity for each. Or procure enough moolah to get two more computers.

Regards.

Ah - I was just about to post back the fix I found - Tools - Internet
Options - Advanced - tick on Use Inline Autocomplete in the Browser section.

Hi,

Thanks for the tip anyway! Just confirms I did the right thing. Things will
be okay on this account as long as none of my fellow codgers/dodgers/lodgers
keep their fingers off from where they should not go in the first place!

Regards.
