Hi all,
I just purchased a new laptop with WindowsXP.

After starting and checking it out, I found that the disk activity light is
continuously flashing.

I check TaskMgr and see no process active; everything is at 0% cpu.

How can I determine what is causing the disk activity and how can I stop it?

Thanks

Is "Indexing" enabled?
Start | Run and enter: services.msc
Then scroll down to see the 'Status' of the Indexing service.
If the status is shown as 'Started' this could be the problem.
You can change the Startup Type from 'Automatic' to 'Manual'.
Reboot and see if the problem goes away.
