Continuous Boot Cycle

I'm running Win2000 Pro and it had been running fine, however, I am now
having a problem booting the machine. It runs up to the point where it
would display the login, but then it reboots again. Any suggestions?

- Did you change any hardware or software recently?
- Have you tried booting into Safe Mode?
 
It's my son's computer and I believe he tried to load a new program. I've
tried all of the boot options including Safe Mode, but all behave the same
way.
