Continued Reminder Problem-Need Help

I have had a problem similar to one mentioned by another user on this page.
Whenever I open my calendar, I get an error message stating that "There was a
problem reading one or more of your reminders." I tried the Clean reminders
switch and now just get a different message at the bottom of the screen that
states that "The reminder service is not available." This seems to have
happened after using Intellisync with the MSN service. Does this in some way
corrupt the reminders? Do I have to go through and delete and reenter every
reminder? Anyone that can help me with a fix for this problem would be
greatly appreciated. I tried the MSN tech support and it gave me a response
that didn't even seem to be in same ballpark as what I had requested.

Some versions of synching software try to also synch the hidden Reminders
folder and end up creating multiple copies of that folder (named like
Reminders, Reminders1 and so on). It ends up screwing up the reminders
service and confusing Outlook.

You can try starting Outlook using the /resetfolders switch, which usually
helps until the next time you synch with that software, then the problem
occurs again. The end solution would be to find updated or different
synching software after you fix the initial problem.

Now try the /cleanreminders switch on startup. In fact you can combine the 2
on one command line: Outlook.exe /resetfolders /cleanreminders.

Also, some of your recurring items might have become one-offed from
synching, which would create exceptions and might even break the
recurrences. You can display all your calendar items in an Active
Appointments table view and you might have to delete and re-create those
recurring appointments.

Thanks, Ken. I'm having the same problem, having to keep restarting outlook
2000 with the Outlook.exe /resetfolders /cleanreminders string. It's
annoying! I think it happened when I began telling Ebay to remind me of when
an auction is getting close. How can I delete the causes so it won't go on
from now on? Did you say to delete the recurring appointments and remake
them. That will stop the problem?

Most often when I've seen this problem it's due to synching software that
doesn't properly set properties on the items. There are also some versions
of synch software that actually synch the hidden Reminders folder. When the
synch is to Outlook you end up with Reminders, Reminders1, Reminders2, etc.
and that confuses the hell out of Outlook. The solution there is to use
OutlookSpy (www.dimastr.com) to find the hidden Reminders folder or folders
and see if there is more than one. If there is delete all of them, use
/resetfolders to create a new Reminders folder and run to get different or
later synch software.
