continual broadcasting

what are you using to determine the number of broadcasts
packets?

Have you disabled NetBios and the Microsoft Client from
the network adapter connected to the Internet?

1) I am just looking at the 'local area connection status'
window on the task bar and visually watching the 1 second
refresh of the number of packets sent.

2) I hadnt previously, but i have disabled everything on
the adapter except tcp/ip, but it doesnt appear to make
any difference.

Thanks for your help.

Virus, I have ran across on two instances where the MSBLaster and Welchia
virus cause massive broadcast storms which will lock up a router or
firewall.

Good call, in support we have seen MANY of these cases. :)

Thanks for the tip - i installed Zone Alarm and it seems
to be Internet explorer itself that is doing the
broadcasting. Not sure where to go from here - except try
and use Netscape perhaps?
