Continual beeping when switching users

When we log in under one user, and then use the "Switch
User" function to change to another without logging off
the first, there is a continual beeping noise while both
users are logged in. As soon as we log one of the users
off again, the beeping noise stops.

Can anyone advise how to eliminate this noise?

Thank you!

What kind of beeping? From Windows or from the PC tower or laptop unit?

The beeping sounds like a key is stuck on the keyboard. The system is an "all-in-one" with a touch screen, and the beeping sound is coming out of the speakers, therefore, I am assuming it is being caused by Windows. If I mute the sound, we cannot hear the beeping noise (or any other of course)

Okay. Was wondering if it was an internal system error but it *is* a sound
delivered through the speakers and not from inside of the computer. The
beeping may be from Windows. It may be from a program that does not do well
with fast user switching. Anything in Event Viewer to provide an extra
clue?

Thanks for the tip on Event Viewer (EV) - I am new to XP
and did not know about it.

I opened the EV and viewed the contents, logged on to
another user, and checked the EV again after the beeping
began. The EV showed the following...

(X)Error, date, time, Source is listed as "mouclass",
Category "None", Event "10", User "N/A", Computer (Kitchen)

I searched the Knowledge Base for "mouclass" and it found
nothing. Any idea on what this might be?

Thanks for your time on this!! I contacted the
manufacturer but they had never heard of this problem
either.

"mouclass" is related to mouse: drivers, input/output, buffers, etc. Plenty
of info via a google search, including a few links from the MSDN libraries:
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&q=mouclass

If you check this site: http://www.eventid.net, you'll see that just about
all event #10 errors are related to drivers.

You said this system has a touch screen. Is it possible that the software
for this input device is not happy with fast user switching? Can you
disable that temporarily to see if using just a plain mouse and FUS works
okay?
