Content.IE5 does not exist

Nor does Content.IE6 in my Temporary Internet Files
directory.

I've seen many others post about this problem in other
places, but haven't seen a solution. The directory cannot
just be recreated. I get this error very often now while
trying to use IE. For example, I cannot stream any of the
stations online I'm used to streaming.

Any help? Email response is most helpful for me. :)

Thanks!

Josh,
I suspect the solution is to delete the Temporary Internet Files folder. a
new one will be created on restart. You might also set the size of the TIF
folder to about 50 MB.

See: How To Delete the Internet Explorer Temporary Internet Files:
http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/delcache.htm

If that's not the solution, post back with the full error message.

Regards,
Don

How can an MVP write nonsense like that?

Of course there is a CONTENT.IE file in IE6. It's in the Temporary Internet Folder and it contains 4 different folders with the Temporary Internet files. It also contains the INDEX.DAT file! For some strange reason neither one of these things can be seen in Outlook. They can, however, be seen in other file manager programs, among them the outstanding Total Commander which beat Outlook by a long shot - and it's even free!

Mark,
Perhaps you need to reread the post again?

The OP asked about the "Content.IE6" cache folder ... right?
And my response was there is no "Content.IE6" ... right?

Windows does not allow me to delete this folder, unfortunately.

I've tried deleting all content within there, but
Content.IE5 does not get recreated.

The full error is simply:

"C:\Documents and Settings\Josh\Local Settings\Temporary
Interet Files\Content.IE5\6VMJIDY3\128.m3u"
The specified path does not exist.

Check the path, and then try again.

Go to a DOS prompt and using the DOS names (not the long name) try to delete
from there.

p.s. the file's attribute may need to be changed.

It exists, I promise you.
On WinXP you can only see Content.IE5 for your user if you logon as a
different user with administrative privileges. And you will have to have
set Windows Explorer to show hidden files and folders.
As Mike points out, there is no Content.IE6.
