Content Advisor Question

On our laptop we have Windoes ME OS, and use Internet Explorer 6. Since
there's an 8 year old that uses the computer we use the content advisor. But
for some reason, 99% of the time when we shut down the computer, when we boot
it back up, we get a message saying that information is missing from the
content advisor. When I check, the password is missing, and some of the
settings are changed. Does any one know what's causing this and how I can fix
it?

I've tried that already. Every time it happens, but it never works

It might be a security program blocking the Registry change it needs to
make. A few, but not all, of the programs now doing this are:
Ad-aware's Ad-Watch
IBM Access Connections
McAfee VirusScan and/or Antispyware
Norton AV
Spyware Blaster
Spybot> Tools> IE Tweaks
Spybot- Teatimer
Spysweeper
Windows Defender
Zone Alarm (free) 6.5 Reported to be fixed in later versions.

In the case of Zone Alarm 6.5 or Norton 2007 it actually has to be
uninstalled. Make sure the Windows Firewall is turned on until you
reinstall Zone Alarm.

Boot into Safe Mode and try the change.

Thank you Frank. I'll try that tonight. Hopefully it will work because she
seems to keep finding inappropriate sites for an 8 year old to see.

Hi Kris - Just a small followup on Don's post taken from one of my standard
posts on this subject:

"If you wish to restore Content Advisor to its original condition (because
of your kids) you can obtain a Microsoft program (CA-Reset.exe - 89.5K) to
do this here: http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/regs_edits/CA-Reset.exe
(listed on line 283) NOTE: Using CA-Reset will completely delete your
Approved List - everything starts like brand new, so consider this before
you use it. You may also wish to take a look at:

There are some additional "famility oriented" resources given in my Blog,
Defending Your Machine, addy below in my Signature.
