Hello,

Appartently, before I bought my computer a few years ago
(past warranty), someone set an administration password in
the Content Advisor. I have never been able to use IE
because the Content Advisor blocks me from going
anywhere. I use MSN Explorer so it isn't usually a
problem, but I think the inabliltiy to navigate anywhere
with IE is messing up my MSN email.

Any Ideas?

Debby

(so you know Im still new at this)

k try this. I can't guarentee but I was able to reset my
Outlook Express pword. it also reset the logon pword. Be
careful just in case (I am the only user on my pc). what I
did was locate the *.pwl file with my logon name ie:
deb.pwl (use find file/folder and search *.pwl

once found. delete it. Restart, when asked to enter
password dont. just click enter when promped to Add
password (so your not asked each time you restart. and
have a look if your advisor is reset.

Hi Debby - Content Advisor - Go here:
http://www.pchell.com/support/contentadvisor.shtml and do what it says
and/or see here to disable it completely or toggle it:
http://osiris.978.org/~brianr/nopics-ie/

Here's the basic procedure, but refer to the link above if you need more
detail: Go to Start|Run and then enter "regedit" (without the quotes). and
then navigate to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\
CurrentVersion\Policies\Ratings

Select the "Key" entry in the right-hand pane and
Delete it. Now go to Registry|Exit to close Regedit.

Now you'll be able to disable Content Advisor by opening IE6 and going to
Tools|Internet Options|Content. Click on "Disable". Then click on "OK" when
you're asked for a password - don't enter anything. OK out and CA is
disabled.

Alternatively, see here: http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_abc.htm under
Content Advisor under "C" for info and specialized .vbs scripts to turn it
on and off and to modify specific settings.

If you wish to restore Content Advisor to its original condition (because of
your kids) you can obtain a Microsoft program (CA-Reset.exe - 89.5K) to do
this here: http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/regs_edits/CA-Reset.exe
(listed on line 283) NOTE: Using CA-Reset will completely delete your
Approved List - everything starts like brand new, so consider this before
you use it.
