I recenty tried a trial version of office 2003 and it expired.I installed a
copy from my firm of office xp, and I can not get the contacts to appear in
the address book. I've tried everthing you had suggested to other users on
this to no avail.I tried removing and installing the adress books in the
account setting and I get an error saying it won't properly function until
it's configured properly.I did this cause I was told when you right click the
contact folder and go to properties and check the option for make e mail
contacts available, the screen is grayed out. I am at a total loss with this
one.

Outlook data created in Outlook 2003 is not compatible with earlier

Originally I had office 2000, then I tried the trial version of 2003 and it

know is, how do I get my contacts into the address book of Outlook.I tried
right clicking the contacts folder and go into properties and then adreess
book to check the "share this folder as an e mail" but is is "grayed out".

directories or address books/add address book, and I get an error saying is

You've mentioned every version there is but have not clarified which you are
actually using.
What do you mean by "Office XP Professional which is a 2000 copy?"
It cannot be both.

Russ, you are not understanding what I'm writing. I explained to you that I
read all the help topics and tried the correct procedures to no avail. The
program does not let me add the outlook address book as I described
previously in the tools/e mail accounts/directories/address books. I get an
error staing the account is not configured properly. Well, I guess it's just
another flaw in Microsoft's software and you can not offer the proper
answer.I rest my case.

How can you rest a case you have not adequately presented and just blame it
on a software flaw? The flaw here is not the software. It is in the case.
Your post is vague and lacking in detail. The precise steps you used and an
accurate account of error messages are pre-requisites for troubleshooting.
A message to the effect that your account is not properly configured usually
means you have left out one of the most basic steps in configuring your
Outlook profile such as a valid mail transport and a valid information
store. It is impossible to know what you've missed from the limited
information you have posted so far. "Installing a copy from my firm" tells
us nothing.

Your reply is absurd! I just installed another trial version of Office 2003
and everthing works fine! Why could you not impart the proper steps one takes
when changing from office 2003 to Office XP.Then you come back with all this
technical jargon, like mail transport and valid information store.If I was
that knowledgable, I'd be doing your job and not wasting my time writing this

There are no "proper steps" for reverting from a trial version of a new
product to an old product. Perhaps you do not understand what "trial
version" means. It means you have no support and remain at your own risk for
everything that you do.
In light of that, why you would embark on using a trial version of Outlook
without first understanding simple basics like what an email transport is or
where your data is stored mystifies me.
This would have been an easy problem to solve had you provided that simple
basic information. As it is, you are quite justifiably on your own.
