I've notice some user's Contacts appear to have a number in braket next to
their Contact.

What does it mean? The number doesn't seems to shown the total of the actual
count.

Thanks in advance.

Outlook2003

Usually that's an unread message count. Can you right click on the folder
and choose "Mark all as read'?

I thought of that so. However, how could this happen (unread contact!?)? I
added on my Outlook and it doesn't show anythin at all.

It can happen if they share their Contacts folder and someone else adds a
contact.

I believe it require exchange server for contacts to be share. Could it be
the synchronization with the mobile device?

I've found the Contacts' Properties had an option button to be choose. Which
is either Show Number Of Unread Items (Default) or Show Total Number Of
Items.

I've tested on my user's computer, when "Show Total Number Of Items" is been
choose, It show what it mean for however when "Show Number Of Unread Items"
is been choosen, the entire contact list is shown on the right panel and it
indicate a count with bracket next to Contact Folder..

Perhaps, but I've never seen that particular behavior. I have the "Show
number of unread items" option selected.
