Contacts vs Address Book

Does anyone have any ideas why it is that some of my Contacts entries either
don't show up at all in the Address Book that appears for e-mails, or revert
to old information (eg old e-mail address) which I've actually
deleted/replaced in the Contact itself? If you see what I mean! (This is
Outlook 2003.)

Do you have an address book other than the Outlook Address book? Check here:
Tools menu > Email accounts > View or change existing directories or address
books

The Outlook Address book should be a virtual address book created
dynamically from info in your Contacts (and other contact-type) folders. So,
it should always remain in step with your contacts.

Thanks, Vince. No, I just use the Outlook Address book. I agree that it
SHOULD remain in step with my Contacts but unfortunately it doesn't
(always!)!

Contacts that don't have electronic addresses (e-mail or fax) don't appear
in the Address Book view.

Are you speaking of when you start typing in a recipient field (like To)?
These addresses aren't connected with your Contacts in any way. They are
from a cache of addresses to which you've sent mail previously. When the
list appears, select the address you don't want by using the arrow keys and
then press Delete.

Thanks, Brian, but I'm talking about the Address Book list of contacts
that's accessible from the 'To' box - for some strange & peculiar reason,
not all of my Contacts-with-email-addresses appear! It's only a minor
problem but it's extremely annoying!

I have the same problem after having to reload Outlook due to other problems.
I have copied all of my contacts back into the contact folder but I cannot
get any of them to pull up when I send an e-mail and pick the "To" button.
All contact information is there in the contact pull down bar. Any help on
this would also be appreciated. Using Office 2000

Well, one thing you can try is to reload the Outlook Address Book service
(although I don't know it will help, it sure can't hurt). Click
Tools>E-mail Accounts>View or change existing directories or address
books>Next. Select the Outlook Address Book and click Remove. Finish and
then stop and restart Outlook.

Again click Tools>E-mail accounts, but select "Add a new directory or
address book" and then click Next. Select "Additional Address Books" and
click Next. Select Outlook Address Book and select Next, then Finish. Stop
and restart Outlook. Check to see if it makes a difference.

Thank you very much indeed, Brian! At a quick test that certainly seems to
be working. I'm sending this to my own e-mail so I can use again if it
reverts.

Best wishes
