Contacts sub directories

Outlook 2000. I have had to rebuild my sytem due to a hard disk failure. I
have imported my backed op pst files and have all my contacts (several
hundred), most of which are in sub-directories. When I click the 'to' to
search my contacts, I get the main directory but when I click the main
directory to get a drop down of the sub-directories - nothing. I do not
recall having to set aything previously but I have tried looking a folder
group activities without success. Can anyone help me.
 
Right click on each of the sub-folders and ensure they are marked as Outlook Address books.

Mnay thanks. Problem solved. I certainly did not need to do that when I
first set-up the sub-folders. Thank you again.
 
This is caused by importing your .pst file, which is never the method to restore Outlook data.

For future reference, please explain how I should have backed up and restored
my data. I back up regularly but this is the first time I have needed to
restore. I was restoring to a completely blank outlook because all my
software had to be re-installed.

You simply add the existing PST to the mail ptrofile and designate it as the
delivery locaiton. Exactly how depends on whether you've configure Outlook
2000 in Internet Mail Only mode or Corporate/Workgroup mode.
