Contacts Search default

Over the New Year's holiday, I did an in depth cleaning of my hard drive that
included re- formating the hard drive and re-installing the apps I use on a
regular basis. Prior to this "clean sweep", whenever I opened Outlook and
switched from "inbox" to Contacts, a default "current view" was automatically
selected. I could then simply type the first few letters of the contact I
wanted and presto!, there it was. Now, I must manually select the Contacts
"current view" _everytime_ prior to typing the opening letters of the
Contact's name/company/whatever.

How can I restore the easier method of "Outlook>Contacts>type contact name &
Presto!?

Dear Diane:

Thank you for responding to my query. I have already explored the many
myriad "easy" methods to solve my problem. Again, whenever I switch from any
Outlook ('03) app to Outlook ('03) Contacts, I have to manually select one of
the "Current View" buttons in the Navigation Bar and then I can freely type
the initial letters of the contact I'm looking for... without first clicking
in the "Type a contact to find" drop down box on the "Standard" toolbar.
Previous to my general yearly maintenance routine, I could switch from any
Outlook ('03) app to Contacts and simply begin typing on my keyboard the
initial letters of the desired contact _without_ having to a) manually click
on one of the "view" buttons. Is there a background config within the
initial setup and config menus that I missed? I'd hate to have to re-install
again.

No, there is not a background switch - in cell editing is a view setting.
Either the view is messed up or you are not using the same view you used
before.
