Contacts - Name order

I have my contact options set as Last First for Full Name, File As and in
Display As, but when I start a new email, click on To: go to my contacts, the
contacts are coming up with First Name First instead of Last Name First. Has
anyone seen this and/or have a remedy?
 
All the time. You haven't set the sort order for the Outlook Address Book.
You've only set it for Contacts.
If you can't figure out how to do that, then post your Outlook version so we
can tell you.
 
I am running Outlook 2003. I did go to the Outlook Address Book via control
panel, mail, email accounts, view or change existing directories or address
books, selected change and went to the MS Address book and changed the "show
names by" to File as last, first, but still no luck!

Did you remember to restart Outlook?

I did restart Outlook and I even shut down my computer. I just deleted one
name from my contact list and re-entered it and now it works correctly, but I
really don't want to have to do that for 50+ contacts. Thanks for any input
and thanks for your quick response.

So you're saying that you set your Outlook Address Book to sort by "File
As..." but they are not showing up as "Last, First." That would suggest that
you do not have your File As... fields set up in Last, First order.

I went to tools, email accounts, view or change exist directory or address
books, selected change, went to the MS Address book and changed the "show
names by" to File as Last First.
When I open up an actual contact card, I see the Full Name showing as Doe,
John. I see the File as: Doe, John and I see the Display as Doe, John. It
looks perfect, but when I create a new email, click on To: the contacts show
up John, Doe. I just can't figure it out, so I will probably find time to
re-enter them all since that seemed to work. Thanks for all your advice and
sorry for cross-posting.

Something is not right here. Open a Contact that is not sorting correctly
and examine how the name is actually parsed in the Full Name... dialog and
examine how the File As field actually appears.
If your File As field is set to Last, First, your Outlook Address Book will
sort as Last, First when you set it to sort by File As... It cannot do
otherwise. If it doesn't, you would be the first and only and I have no
explanation.
