Contacts' Modified Dates Change After Opening

This problem popped up 3 days ago, I don't know what triggered it.
After I double click on a contact, to open it, the modified date for this
contact is updated to the present date and time, although I did not modify
the contact. Right after I open it, its modified date is altered.
I want to avoid this as I often use a "sort by modified date" view.
Please help me solve this problem

If you open something in OL the modified date is changed, its default/std
behaviour.

I am pretty sure it is not the default behavior as this problem happens
since 3 days, and I am using Outlook since 1999 and never noticed this
before.

It is the default behavior - anytime anything is accessed (opened, edited,
moved, etc.) it is modified. The fact that you did not notice this before
has no bearing on the fact that is happens.

The modified date has no bearing with Contacts since the most important
thing about modified dates is archiving. As contacts don't archive, the
issue is moot for most everyone.

Sorry to insist but I'm sure you are wrong.
The proof that you're wrong is that I often use a sorting of the contacts by
modified date. With this sorted contacts view, the contacts that I didn't
altered are on top of the list, and the contact that I recently altered are
on the bottom of the list.
Very often, I double click on an old contact to check its content. Then if I
close it without modifying anything, the contact will stay on top of the
list. If I change something in one of the contact's fields, the contact will
jump to the bottom of the list.
The behavior I have now, since one week , si that if I double click a
contact, it will jump immediatly to the bottom of the list. If I go to the
properties of the contact, I can see its modifed date is set to the time and
date when I double clicked on the contact.
I'm an Outlook user since 10 years and use this kind of sorted view since
about 10 years. If this thing happens all the time, in every case, I SHOULD
have noticed it before. But I noticed it first only one week ago. And since
then, my sorting by modified date became unusable (after 10 years of using
it).

I am not sure by what you mean when you say "The modified date has no

archiving". Even if a contact does not get archived, it has a modified date
that can be altered.

Answering to myself..
I finally found what was causing the problem. I uninstalled the ".tel"
plugin for Outllok (downloadable from http://www.telnic.org/ ).
So now when I double click on a contact , the modified date does not get
updated anymore, and *THIS* is a normal behavior (despite what other might
say).

If you click save and close to close it, the modified date is always updated
(and a lot of people do close it using the save and close button because it's
the only way they know how to close it)- you need to use the x or file,
close menu. If an add-in is touching the contact and saving it when you
click X to close, that is a horrible add-in.

yes, opening a contact does not update the modified date.
reminder: with this addin, the contact's modified date was updated as soon
as I double clicked the contact, so it was even before using the close
button
