Contacts missing in "Select Names" Box

When I address a new email, after pushing the "To..."
button, the Select Names box is completely empty.
The "Contacts" folder itself seems completely intact and
OK. Any suggestions?

I would suggest posting your Outlook version and what you did to disable
your Outlook Address Book. There is far more to this story than you have
told us so far. Do not make us guess what you did.

Of course you're right but I'm not sure what happened!

First my version is XP 2002 (10.4712.4219 SP-2

Last night I had installed the software for a new Cannon
scanner. Everything there seemed to go OK. I received no
abnormal messages.

After that I went online to do a send/receive and noticed
that Outlook was checking accounts that were at a least a
year old and had been deleted. I deleted them again but
Outlook wasn't really working so well. It was slow
loading and changing folders. I also noticed a second
Outlook icon in the quick start taskbar

Today I ran the original cd with the "fix" option. After
that I went to MS to look for updates and found SP-3. I
downloaded and installed that with no problems.

Later today I went to send an email and discovered that I
didn't have the email addresses as described before.
