I noticed today that some of my contacts were missing - lots. I haven't had any strange crashes, errors, etc. and I am a seasoned Outlook user, though no expert. I sync it with a Dash Smartphone and I have deleted several tasks lately. The only thing that maybe would explain this is that when I deleted a category it came up with a warning that I didn't quite understand that says "Deleting these items will also delete the associated email messages and contacts...". I don't think this is the culprit, but I'm a bit paranoid right now. Several of the missing contacts had no tasks associated with them, or vice versa. Usually when you lose items and are syncing with a handheld device, its
caused by the sync. It's always very risky to delete things on the device
that you don't want deleted from the desktop. Unfortunately, if you don't
have a backup, you probably wont be able to recover them... but look in the
Deleted items folder, just to be sure.
