I am unable to edit or delete any contacts in the address book. When I
attempt to do so, I receive a message that says that IE is closing. (and I
closes)

Has anyone else seen this? If so, how can it be resolved?

Several things can cause it, such as having an old version of
Outlook installed, or running a non-compatible antivirus.

I have Outlook 2007 installed. I also have PC-cillan from Trend Micro. Do
you think that just uninstalling PC-cillan will solve the problem?

Outlook 2007 is fine. Have you thought about using it for email
rather than Windows Mail?

It would be worthwhile to uninstall your antivirus just to see if that
clears up the contacts editing problem. I assume you can always
reinstall it.

Yes, I can use Outlook. I just happen to like Mail. I am also concerned
about importing my contact list into Outlook at this point. I might have the
same problems.

I will uninstall PC-cillan and see what happens. I'll let you know if it
helps.

Thanks again for your suggestions.

I uninstalled my virus protection and re-booted. Unfortunately I still can
not delete any of the contacts in the contact list. Any other suggestions?

You might as well reinstall your antivirus since that didn't turn out
to be the culprit.

Some have reported here that the only way they can delete contacts
is to drag each one to the Recycle Bin. If that is not an acceptable
workaround for you, the only other suggestion I have is to upgrade
to Windows Live Mail:

I followed your directions in the tutorial. Unfortunately, I still have the
same problem. I still can't delete any contacts. Any other suggestions?

Many thanks.

I tried Gary's suggestion of dragging the names out of contacts into the
recycle bin and all works well now. Thank you all for your help!
