Contacts Hanging

Hello,

When I make a new mail and click on the "To" button and go
to Contacts to select a recipient Outlook hangs when I
reach the letter "F".

A friend suggessted that I export the Contacts to a new
PST and then re-import them to weed out the corrupt
Contact entry. Problem is that my Contact folder under
Outlook Today does not match the Contacts that I see when
I click on the "To" button and then select a Contact.

Why is this so? And can any body help me with this problem?

Much Obliged
Michael

You failed to post your Outlook version.
Reset the Outlook Address Book. I can't tell you how because you didn't post
your version. Perhaps you already know.

Sorry,

Go to Tools > Services. Remove the Outlook Address Book service. Restart
Outlook. Re-add it. Next, R click on the Contact folder or folders you want
the OAB to display, choose "Properties", go to the Outlook Address Book tab
and check the "Show this folder as an E-mail address book" box. You may also
need to go to Tools > Options > Addressing Tab and choose to show your
Contacts folder.

Hello all,

This "address book makes outlook and word hang or stop responding for
up to 5 minutes" problem seems to be a known error, but there is no
known fix.

However, I have found a work-around:
when you create the message and you want to add an email address,
do not click on the little address book icon (i.e. next to "To:",
"Cc:" or "Bcc:").

In stead, type in some name in the "To:" field and then click in the
next field, or click in the text area (where your email message will
go).
After a few seconds, Outlook will draw a ziggy red line underneath
what you typed in the "To:" field, because it can't find a unique
match to what you typed within the contacts.

At this point you will now be able to use the address book, i.e. you
can now click on the little address book icon (i.e. next to "To:",
"Cc:" or "Bcc:"), and use the address book to find your contact and
put it into the "To:", "Cc:" or "Bcc:" field.

Cheers,
Wim
