I'm using outlook 2007 but can't get my contacts to display in my address
book I have tried Article ID : 319901 and Article ID : 287563 but can't
remove the outlook address book MAPI nor can I carryout the action in step
two namely can't click (sellect) show this folder as an e-mail address book
as it's greyed out.

Can you add the Outlook Address Book service? You mention that you can't
remove it but can you add it since it (the Outlook Address Book service)
needs to be in your profile for the check box you mentioned to be active

I can't add it as it says it is already there, just to be sure I go to tools,
account settings, address books and add, is that correct? Sorry not to good
with outlook.

No problem... That should be the path you take to deal with address book
services. Is there anything there other than the Outlook Address Book
service? Is the Personal Address Book service there?

You might have to setup a fresh MAPI profile if your current one is damaged

No only the outlook address book MAPI personal is not shown.
Thanks for taking the trouble with this, M

That's a problem with OL 2007: you can't delete the OAB service from a
profile. You must start with a new profile.

Thanks for the info, now how do I do that without loosing all my contacts and
emails etc soory if thats a dum question but I haven't a clue.

Hi,

I have read through everything here and the link. I now have an account
with all my contacts working as I want - thanks.

How do I get my old email? I tried pointing at the old pst file but that
kills my contact list again as before and I have to redo the whole account
setting up thing. Is there a way of just getting at my old emails? I have
some that are quite important...

Thanks

Robb

"Pointing" to the old PST File means what to you exactly? You simply open
the file in Outlook and copy what you want from it. Instructions:
File > Open > Outlook Data File...

I tried the fixes suggested, but can't get the contacts folder linked to Outlook mail.

It tells me to check the box on properties for contacts, but that box is grayed out and unavailable.

Any suggestions?

Rather difficult without your telling us what you tried. The fixes would
work had you followed the correct one and done so correctly.
The fix that works the best with Outlook 2007 requires creating a new
profile.

I have followed the link and created a new profile to address the same problem. However, I did not have access to my emails I placed in multiple folders. Somehow the new profile needs to relate to the old profile's emails. How can this be done - preferably, step by step?
