Contacts do not show in address book

My contacts do not show in my address book , but they do show in viewing pane
when I click on my contact folder? I have these contacts on an excel
spreadsheet, I mapped them with phone and fax numbers only. How can get them
to show in my address book? I have followed all of the advice in the help
section but to no avail.
 
Phone numbers do not appear in the Outlook Address Book.
Fax numbers will only appear if you mapped them to the correct field and
they were recognized and resolved by Outlook. I suspect that did not occur.
See if it did.

Aren't you engaged in a thread with Russ about this very subject?
 
How can I tell if they were recognized and resolved? How do I check this

Yes I suppose, I am really new to this type of communication if I did
something wrong, it is purely out of not knowing...I just need to resolve
this matter as soon as I can...I work from home
 
Look in the Fax number fields and see if they contain a phone number in a
valid format that is underlined.
