Contacts Birthdays on Calendar`

I know there is a way to make birthdays for you contacts
show up on your calendar. How do I do that?
 
In the contact itself you should have a details tab. On
this tab there is a birthdays field. If you set that date
it will populate your calendar
 
But it seems to only pop up for that year. Can you make it recur every year

It does recur every year, it's just that each instance doesn't get put
on the calendar at once. After this year's birthday passes next year's
will appear.
