Contacts and Outlook Address Book

Why is it that when I click to browse Addresses (from the
To: or Address Book icon) I always get 'no addresses in
this book' and it's shown as the Outlook Address Book,
but underneath there's Contacts? I'm using Outlook XP
from Office XP SP1 with all updates on Windows XP SP1.

Is there any way to merge these two things? The reason I
use Outlook (as opposed to some other email client) is
for it's scheduling/contact abilities, but it's getting
annoying to have to take those couple of extra clicks to
get to addresses. Know what I mean?

Thanks

(guess it was a mistake to just post this in the regular Outlook newsgroup
instead of Contacts)

That's how it's supposed to look. The Outlook Address Book is simply the
shell that holds any of the Contacts Folders that you've enabled to be
displayed in the Outlook Address Book.
You just haven't configured the Address Book to display the correct folder
first. Do so within the Address Book interface > Tools > Options.

I've been there, too...

It doesn't help either that the address book configurations are
distributed over at least three completely different locations :)

Don't they do usability testing? They should invite me some time for a
session... :))

Consider yourself invited. You can send Outlook feature requests to
(e-mail address removed) with "Outlook" in the subject and to
(e-mail address removed)

Believe me. They really do look at this stuff.

Thanks a lot, that's good to hear. If nothing else, it will give me
the illusion that there is a place where I can load off my
frustrations with Outlook :)
