Contacts added from EMail don't appear in Contacts

Hello
This problem occurs whenever I right click on an email
address when I am reading email and choose the option
"add to contacts". I save either the new contact
information, or choose to update an existing contact, but
when I go to the Contact listing, the new information is
not there.

We can't tell what you're doing wrong from this description. If I were you,
I'd look to see if you have more than one set of Contacts Folders in your
profile.
 
I do seem to have several contact folders. Is there a way
to combine the contacts within these folders? Also, how
do I find out which way (i.e. to which contact folder)
the email originated contacts are directed?

Adding Contacts from the Context menu will place them in your default
Contacts Folder.
The easiest way to combine your Contacts into one Folder is Select All >
Copy To Folder (in the Edit Menu).
