When I click on "To" and the contacts come up for me to choose from, they are in the wrong order. I want a particular folder (the defualt/top one) to be up first, but suddenly, they are alphabetical; making one of hte sub contact folders the default one I see right away. Please help me get back my first level folder as the one that shows by default. Thank you in advance.

If you would like an answer, you will need to post your Outlook version. We
try, but we can't read minds.
Also, explain what you mean by "suddenly." Are we to infer that for some
reason this behavior suddenly changed? If so, you will need to post the
changes you made to your system and configuration that lead to "suddenly."

I'm so sorry - new to this asking for help here. I am using Outlook XP Professional. I am not on a network. I am a stand alone user. By suddenly, I meant since I have been using Outlook, it has sorted with my main folder Contacts at the top. I went to Microsoft site and updated with a Service pack 3 the other day. I just noticed yesterday that now my contact lists in the "Show Names from the" list in the Select Names box are listing alphabetically instead of with the first one being Contacts (the main, default contact folder in my mailbox). Thanks again for any help you can give in rearranging the contacts in the order I want them. I do not care what order the others are in, but I do want my default Contacts to be the first ones to show up in nthsi dialog box.

You should be able to open the Address Book in Outlook 2002, then click on
Tools > Options... to set the order in which Contact Folders are displayed.

I answered this yesterday, but I guess it didnt' show up. Thank you for that answer, but i alaready went into Tools/Options and all it has is a place to choose first or last name order. That is the only choice i am given for Contacts in the Contacts area of Tools/Options. Can you tell me more where I should be clicking to access the ability to order my contacts? Thankz!

Reread my post. Try again.
You are in the wrong place. You must open the Address Book, then select
Tools > Options...

Do you see the Address Book icon in the Toolbar?

I guess i do not know how to get to the address book then. I click on
Contacts. Then what?? It is not in the Tools/Options when I click on
Contacts Folder and then Tools/Options. I'm sorry I do not know how to get
to the "address book". I thought that was the "Contacts" folder. If you
could give me direction as to where to find Address Book I'd appreciate it.
And Thanks again!!

No. But i have called the Geek Squad over to do it for me. They came right to my house and took care of it. I needed it done, and this back and forth was just frustrating to me. Thanks for trying to help the best you could. It just was too frustrating. It felt like I was playing cat and mouse to get it done. Again, thanks for your efforts and attention to answering each question.
