Hi All, this is the second time I've had a subscription problem with Norton.
Once about 3 months ago ann
when I contacted them they corrected the issue. Now
I have the same problem and I forgot how I contacted them the last time. The
standard e-mail address on the
site gets no response, both last time and this time. Snail
mail, well that didn't work last time. So does anyone
have an e-mail address that works?
Thanks
Dave
Oh, the problem I am having is 3 months ago and last week I got a
virus/trojan(can't remember) that Norton
said it couldn't stop. So both times I reinstalled my
operating system and with it a new NAV that has a 3
month limit which over rides my 1 yr. subscription.
Thanks Again

Ask a question here, reject the answer and instead elect to contact
Symantec directly about your billing issue:
http://65.200.195.209/noHoldCust502...ts/frameskp.asp?sid=5418047&ds=65.200.195.209

Once you've got the problem sorted out yet again, consider that you don't
need to reinstall your OS every time you get a virus.

Regards,
Ian.

Oops- same here. This link should work: http://www.symantec.com/techsupp/
From there, I clicked on the "Subscription troubleshooter." You're then
presented with an automated response to your question, but:
" If the Virtual Agent cannot answer your question you will also be
presented with the option of contacting Symantec." They have different
contact addresses depending on where you live.

Ian.

Hi, and thanks for the links, however they just put me into some kind
of time comsuming loop. I fill out forrms and am sent here and there
but wind up back where I started. In july I had this same problem and
stumbled onto an email contact, and was able to communicate my problem.

It's obvious they don't want to be bothered with customer problems. What
I was looking for was a simple link on there page that said "Contact, or
E-mail us", like most other sites have. Anyway thanks so much for trying
to help.

If this is Norton Antivirus 2002 or 2003, I have a small 17KB tool which
can be used to fix your subscription problem. Unfortunately it does not
work for later versions of NAV. Just give me a (munged, of course) real
email address of some kind and I'd be happy to send it your way.

Ian.

What if the problem was a false positive? False Positives are fairly
common occurances when new AV versions or updates are released.

I still have NAV 2002 on one of my systems that I haven't bothered to
uninstall yet. The latest update of F-prot for DOS reports that one of the
Norton Live Update files is a virus! The file is several years old and has
been passing weekly AV scans using at least 3 different AV programs all
during that time.

Who suggested that you reinstall your operating system? If you have one of
the serious low level viruses on your hard drive or CMOS no amount of
reinstalling will correct those kinds of problems!

What operating system are you using?

The first suggestion is to get one or more of the numerous "FREE" or demo
antivirus and antspyware progams mentioned in these newsgroups and run
them as backup on demand scanners. No AV program is full proof. You should
also look into anti-spyware programs such as AdAware and SpyBot Search and
Destroy - run both of them.

Second, spend a little time doing some research educating yourself on
viruses and AV software. I guarantee it will take less time than
reinstalling your software!

Lastly, you might want to look at another AV programinstead on NAV. I've
used Norton continously one way or annother since 1995. When the
subscription on my last sytem running NAV expired about a month ago, I
switched to NOD32 which I'm very pleased with so far. Before that, I'd
been running F-Prot for Windows on all of my other systems.

Norton is an extreme resource hog and contains a massive amount of bloat
(so does McAfee). I continued using NAV on my E-mail sytem until recently
because of thier proxy E-mail feature which prevented infected messages
from being downloaded. NOD32 seems to take care of this in an easier
manner.

Good luck

Ok GREAT, send it on!

Hi Chas, thanks for the info. The reason I reinstall(did it twice so far) is
because it's so easy. I have an HP and I press F-10 at boot-up and it
prompts me to a squeeky
new operating system in 20 minutes.(XP). I have the luxuary of having many
computers, so this one has no important info on it. I have cleaned 4 other
computers
3 succesfully(thanks to people like you who are willing
to help.) I had an old-timer call me today and ask if I would help them get
rid of there virus and I think I will volintere. All he knows is that Norton
reported he has a "Trojan Horse" (his words).
Thanks
Dave
