What Contacts button is that? Are you speaking of the Contacts button at the
bottom of the Navigation Pane? If so, then that's expected behavior. That
button changes the view in the Nav pane, it doesn't change what folder you
have open.

Not here. Contacts button opens the default Contacts Folder.
Suspect Nav pane needs to be reset.

Not here, either. I accidentally tested in the other direction. I was
viewing Contacts and clicked the Folder List button, the right-hand pane
didn't change, but that makes sense. What I said, doesn't work and I hadn't
gotten a change yet to post a retraction.

I am having the same problem. If I am looking at my calendar, the nav pane
has the calender views, etc. (i.e. month, date, week, etc.). If I click on
the Contacts icon button at the bottom of the nav pane, the right pane is
still my calendar, and the calendar views are still there. The only thing
that resembles my Contacts is the title bar at the top, "Contacts", and the
lower half of the nav pane shows "Open Shared Contacts" and "Customize
Current View". The shared contacts link works appropriately for shared
contacts. However, the customize current view customizes the calendar, not
the contacts.

One suggestion was to "reset" the nav pane. How do I do that, and will it
screw up my folder struction for my email. Is that really the issue?

I'd appreciate some help! I keep having to go to the FOLDERS button on the
nav pane to get to my contacts. I prefer it to default to my email.

Thanks!

Click Start>Riun (or Start Search on Vista)>outlook.exe /resetnavpane.
Be sure to include the space. No, it won't affect your folders. it is
possible that the Nav Pane view is damaged and the command switch will fix
thta.
