Contact lists not working

I have Outlook 2003 on a computer. When clicking on the Conacts in the tabs
below where the mail is, it shows 3 contacts. When opening up Word for
envelope addressing it shows the same 3. But when trying to send a email it
says the address book cannot be found. I have tried deleting the address
book and creating a new one, which comes up blank, but the same 3 appear in
the tabs. How do I get the To in the email tab to look to the same place as
the Contacts tab? It says the address book is Contacts, which I believe is
right.

I would appreciate any suggestions anyone would have to be able to get the
address book to work.

It is not clear from your description what you tried.
Remove the Outlook Address Book Service from your profile. Restart Outlook.
Add it back and make sure you have configured the correct folders to be
shown as Outlook Address Book in their properties.

OK I tried what you suggested. I deleted the contact list. Then went into
mail on the control panel and made sure it was gone. Then restarted Outlook
and it had contacts under the tab contacts. But when opening up the mail tab
and starting a new email and clicking on the TO: for the contact list is was
empty. So I added a new contact list. It showed 2 contacts where as the
list under contacts on the tab has 3. How do I find out what address books
are on the computer? and what one is Outlook using? I would appreciate any
help as I'm getting very frustrated with this.

Thanks.

You deleted the Contact list?
What does that mean?
Where did I say that? I cannot follow your post. Had you done what I
suggested you would be fine.
Just read the KB on how to configure the Outlook Address Book. I'm sure you
can figure it out.

OK Thanks. I finally got it to work. There was a problem with 1 of the
email address. Thanks for your help.

You are saying that a single corrupt email address prevented the entire
Contacts Folder from displaying in the Outlook Address Book?
That would be a first.
