Can anyone tell me how to get my address book in plain view like the
inbox/outbox folders are. It was simple with outlook express!

after clicking on "To".
The Contacts feature works much better in Windows Live Mail,
so you may want to upgrade to that:

contacts to appear when I select the "To" button? Or, conversely, how
can I chose multiple names from my contact list if I want to send an
e-mail to more than one person?
Jerry said:He's not seeing the complete list because the Contact list doesn't appear
when you click on To: in Vista Mail. That was one of the reasons I
installed Thunderbird mail on my neighbors Vista machine. Some other
mythical address book comes up that does not match the names in your Contact
list. No groups are shown and there is no way to delete duplicate entries.
When you purchase a machine with Vista, the included mail system should
work, in fact it should work better than the last "Outlook Express" and it
falls way short.

:
Windows Mail does not have that feature.
Click Create Mail, then click on the 'To:' icon to select your
recipients.

same list of recipients whether I click on 'To' or go to Contacts.
That said, the Contacts feature in Windows Live Mail works better
than the one in Windows Mail.

Gary VanderMolen said:Your argument "why should someone have to download and install
yet another email program" applies equally to Thunderbird, so why
recommend Thunderbird over WLM?
The advantage of WLM over Thunderbird is that the former automatically
imports all your WM accounts, settings, and emails.

Jerry said:That was my point in my reply to Gary, the 2 lists are different and
there are plenty of posts with people having the exact same problem.
When my neighbor clicked on To: an address book came up that didn't match
his Contact list. He had groups defined in the Contact list that didn't
show up. There were duplicated entries in that To: list and no means to
delete them. With all the time Microsoft had developing Vista why should
someone have to download and install yet another email program, namely
Live Mail? My suggestion to anyone considering Live Mail is forget it,
download Thunderbird mail, it works.
