Contact List for WORD

I had to reinstall MS Office Premium 2000. When I went to print an envelop
in WORD, there was no contact list to choose the info from. In WORD, I went
to Tools > Envelopes and Labels, clicked on the contact icon and started
going through the process of setting up WORD to know where to pull the
contact list from.

Unfortunately, I did something wrong and now there is nothing to choose
from. How do I correct this and tell WORD to use the Contact list from
Outlook?

Thanks,
Les

All you need to do is configure your Outlook Address Book correctly. Method
depends on your version, which you did not post accurately enough. State
your mail support mode: Corp/Workgroup or IMO.

Microsoft Outlook 2000 (9.0.0.2711)
I believe it is set up as WORKGROUP. I do not use Outlook for email, only
storing contact info. I say workgroup only because if I click on Control
Panel > System > Computer Name, the "Workgroup" is WORKGROUP.

Hope that helps,
Les

The second line of the Help>About display will tell you definitively.

The first two lines under Help > About... were:

Microsoft Outlook 2000 (9.0.0.2711)
No Email

Is that what you needed to know. I use to be able to pull of the Outlook
Contact list via WORD's feature that allows you to print envelopes and labels.

Hope that helped. Thank in advance again,

Les

Well no wonder. You don't even have Outlook fully installed. Outlook must
have a mail transport installed because you need it's MAPI services to
provide the address book to Word. Outlook must be your default mail program
for its address book services to integrate with Word.

Am I to understand that I MUST use Outlook for my email? I have never used
Outlook for email but have had the contact list available in Word.

No. You don't have to use Outlook for email, but you must at least have a
mail account installed. "No mail" mode was very briefly on the scene years
ago. Almost no one used it and it is long defunct. It contains none of the
transport protocols required to provide the address service.
