Contact Groups

I am trying to sort my contacts is Outlook by groups. When I follow the help instructions, the button that says Group By is dimmed out. How can I sort my contacts by groups?

The easiest way I know of is to use Categories and then use a "By Category"
view.
 
What do you mean by groups? Outlook does not use groups. Depending on what
you mean, your choices are to use Distribution Lists, multiple Contacts
Subfolders, or Categories.
