I have exported my contacts as CSV(windows)from
Win98/Outlook2000 into WinXP/Outlook2003. However the
Groups (now called Distribution List?)don't appear in the
list of contacts. I use the Groups to batch email several
people at once. I would appreciate any suggestions for
getting the groups exported. TIA
John

Outlook does not use groups, so groups would not transfer. Only the Windows
Address Book uses groups. You should have been using DL's instead.
Why are you exporting to CSV to transfer Outlook data? That's a sure way to
lose data. Just open or reuse the PST file to transfer data from one Outlook
installation to another.

Russ,
I searched for a *.PST file and then looked in
Windows\AppData\MS\Outlook but didn't find a file with
that extension. Can you tell me where to find the Outlook
Address Book file?

Apparently, Address Book and Outlook use different names
for the same function. Address Book uses the same icon
for Groups that Outlook uses for Distribution List.

Is there a simple way to get everything in my 97 Address
Book transferred over to my XP Address Book? I tried a
CSV export because nothing else has worked, so far.
Thanks for your response.

There is no Address Book file. All information is stored in the PST file.

No. Groups and DL's are not the same thing. Outlook has never used groups.
Only Outlook Express/Windows Address Book does.

Your posts are inconsistent. First you said Outlook 2000. Now you say
Outlook 97. Which is it? Outlook 97 did not have support for DL's. If you
were using Outlook 2000 in IMO mode, you were using the Windows Address
Book, not the Outlook Address Book.
