contact folders

When creating a new contact can you save in a different folder. Can you
change the default setting to save a contact to a folder that you created?
If not is there a patch that is available.
 
I don't understand the question.
A new Contact will be saved to the Folder in which you create it.

Whatever contact folder you have open when you click New will be the folder
in which the contact is stored. If you are in a non-contact folder,
clicking New>Contact will create it in your default Contacts folder.
