I have the same problem as someone did ion an earlier post, but I need a
better solution that offered in it.

When clicking on the To: (or CC, or BCC) filed, the contacts folder does not
appear as a selection.

I followed Microsot Help's suggestion of going to the folder's properties,
Address book tab, and checking the "show this file as an email Address book,
but that item is visible, but grayed out.

The previous post's suggestion was to create a new contacts folder and see
if it will work with it.

I would rather FIX the problem than create a new folder. Can anyone tell me
how to do this?

You have not added the Outlook Address Book service to your mail profile.

You should also take your advice...I had written that the option to check the
" Mark your contact folder for use with your address book" is GREYED OUT on
my pc, and that the contacts folder does not appear on the menu for either To
(or Cc: or Bcc:), and it does not appear as a choice when you select the
outlook folder that appears first. So, none of your suggestions is viable
for me.

Remove the broken Outlook Address Book service from your mail profile. With
Outlook closed, start the Mail applet in Control Pane and click the E-mail
Accounts button. Select the "View ot change existing directories or address
books" radio button and click Next. Select the Outlook Address Book service
and click Remove. Click Finish. Click the E-mail Accounts button again,
select the radio button labeled "Add a new directory or address book" and
click Next. Select "Additional Addresss Books" and click Next. Select
"Outlook Address Book" and click Next, then Finish. Close the Mail applet.
Start Outlook. Check the properties of the Contacts folder. You should now
be able to check the box you described, if it's not already checked.

I have this same problem. outlook 2007 installed on a vista home premium OS, used for personal use on a POP3 account.

I have done as you all have suggested, but here is where I run into trouble:

1) Control Panel
2) Mail
3) Email Accounts
4) Address Books
5) There is only one address book, "Outlook Address Book" Type MAPI.

I cannot:
A) Delete it
B) change its name
C) add an additional Outlook Address Book

I have tried reloading the pst file, I have tried reinstalling Office, nothing works.

Known issue. Outlook 2007 does not permit you to remove the Outlook Address
Book service. You must create a new profile to resolve this issue.
