Outlook 2003
How do I make my contact folder teh default address book when I click "TO"
in a new message? right now "Personal Address Book" is the default and it is
empty

First off, you can remove the Personal Address Book from your profile since
it's obsolete now and has been for a while. Remove it here: Control Panel >
Mail applet > Email Accounts > View/Change existing directories / address
books > Click Next

Remove it should make the Outlook Address Book the default since it should
be the only one left

There are NO address boks listed there. There is also no addresses available
in teh "To" button in a new mail message. How do I get my address book in the
correct location?
Thanks

Well, you can try adding the Outlook Address Book service in the same place
I mentioned about removing the other service.

Ok. I did that. Now the Outlook Address Bok appears but it is empty. How do I
get my addresses to show? They are visible in 'contacts'.

Thanks

Right click on the Contacts folder, choose Properties, go to the Outlook
Address Book tab and make sure the "Show this folder as an email address
book" box is checked.

Ok -that worked. Thanks. I still have a problem however. When I imported the
Outlook Data file from the laptop everything was there except for the
subfolders in my contacts. I have 12 subfolders in contacts that appear in my
laptop. I copied the Outlook data file from the laptop to the desktop after I
formated that disc on the desktop.Curious that the rest of the data is there.
Thanks

Every contacts folder must be enabled as an address book individually.

Well yeah--except that they do not appear anywhere. Where might they be so I
can
enable them as an address books individually?

Do you still have the PST file from the laptop? If so, open it using the
File menu > Open > Outlook Data File command and poke around it to see where
all your data may be. Then drag/drop what you need from one to the other.

I do still have the pst file on my laptop. How do I open it? When I "File
menu > Open > Outlook Data File command " I am asked what program to use to
open this file. Nothing seems to work. I have never 'poked around' in a PST
file. Your thoughts?

thx

You should already be in Outlook when you follow the command path I
mentioned. You shouldn't be asked which program to use to open the file.

WEll, I ended up copy/pasting all of the contacts from my 13 address lists
onto a flash drive and moving them to the desktop. IT worked and all is in
order. Thanks for the help. I just don't understand why those addresses did
not appear with the rest of the data when I imported the pst file.
