Contact address been displayed, want only Name

Just upgraded from Office 2000 to Office XP and it's
making my life very difficult.
The version of Outlook is 2002.

Now when I compose an email, the list of recipients in
the To: box now includes their email address. I would
like to keep this private. How can I have just their name
showing. This was not the case with Office 2000.
 
What made you think it was private in Outlook 2000? It wasn't. It just
didn't appear in the Display Name.
Email addresses are always available to recipients unless you put addresses
in the BCC field.
The change in the Display Name to which you are referring is cosmetic only.
 
Well then, is there any way to change it back the way it
was without going into every individual contact and
deleting the address from the display name. Why did they
change it, is this meant to be somehow better?

They changed it in response to users requests.
I still don't understand what you think you are gaining by changing it back
to the old format.
