I'm looking for info on Consumer level (under 200$) CD printers. I've read a
little bit on the epson r300 and 900 and it seems from what I've read these
units are a little lacking so any information on what is coming in this area
in the future would be appreciated in addition to what is out there now

All the consumer level printers are terribly slow. The epsons take 2-3
minutes to print a full bleed CD label. If it is only a few lines of black
text it can do it in about 30 seconds. But the mechanism requires a lot of
manual operation to actually setup each disk to print. So actual print time
is closer to 3-5 minutes per disk. I guess it's fine if you plan on printing
less than 15 disks a month. Unfortunately the CD printing attachment and
labeling software is not available in the US for the Canon printers. They
have a very easy to use mechanism and will print a 100% coverage disk in
around 30 seconds. I'm actually thinking of importing one from Australia as
the exchange rate is favorable. Of course you can forget getting any kind of
support unless you have a friend in that foreign country that can help you
out with an address.
