I am using the countif formula but it is not working b/c the data
copied is considered Constants and not Text I believe. When I type i
new data the formula will pick up that but not the copied information.
Is there a way to fix this without having to retype all the copie
information? Please help.

Thanks.

Have you considered changing the cell format to text
(right after you paste it)? Or paste/special/values?

I think we'll need a sample of what's not CountIf-ing

The good news is it likely can be fixed "without having to
retype all the copied information".

The bad news is it's kind of a visual thing to work
through. Can you provide the sheet or at least some mock
data that exhibits the behavior?

Hi
the problem is that you have spaces after the number in column A. If
you remove these spaces the formula will work

is there anyway to remove the spaces without going through each cell?
because all the information in cell A is copied and pasted. That i
only a small sample of what I would have to go through

Hi
one way:
- select all your cells
- goto 'Data - Text to columns'
- in the wizard choose 'fixed with' and just finish the wizard

Here's another way.

transfer your data to the new spreadsheet, go to data,
text to columns. This will put the data in two columns,
and you can format it as part of the operation.
