THE Problem:

Dear Sir/Madam:

After installing and reinstalling Windows Defender a
problem has arisen . I constantly am being informed that
Definition Update 1.14.1395.2 for Beta Windows Defender
( KB915597) needs to be downloaded and installed every
approximately every 4-7 minutes.


Hopes this info I'm providing helps with the development of this new product.

Read the article, and although the premise may not apply to your machine,
follow the resolution instructions.

Same problem and the solution works for me.

The question is why does it keep recurring? I have to resort to this
solution for just about every definitions update. OS is XP Pro, SP2

I don't know the answer to that question. I do see a Microsoft post today
stating that fixes in the area of definition update are included in the new
build posted late yesterday, so let's all go get that (you need to do an
explicit download and run)--and see whether it is doing the job:
