Every time I start my computer I get a "Damage Clean Up message" stating
that JS_Fortnight.M has been detected and cleaned.

I'm running XP Home and Trend Micro Internet Security both of which are the
latest versions. I have also looked at numerour web sites that instruct you
to remove certain settings using Regedit (Most of which don't seem to apply
to my PC).

Can any one advise as to what to do to effect a permanent fix ?

It is possible you may have parasites on your system causing the
problem. Download, install, update and run the programs below. They are
free and very effective. Be sure to run both SpyBot and Adaware, as what one
does not detect the other may. Follow the directions carefully.

SpyBot Search & Destroy: Free

or

AdAware: Free

or

You might also download and run this program as another check.

McAfee Avert Stinger

It is also possible you have a Hijacker. Get HiJackThis, it's free.

Go to
http://computercops.biz/downloads-cat-14.html ,

and download HiJackThis. Unzip to a folder other than your Desktop or the
Temp folder, doubleclick HiJackThis.exe, and hit "Scan".

When the scan is finished, the "Scan" button will change into a "Save Log"
button. Press that, save the log somewhere, and please show

Most of what it lists will be harmless or even required, so do NOT fix
anything yet.

Then go here to post you log:
http://forum.aumha.org/

Go to the HiJackThis section on the forum list and click to open. You can
post as a guest, or create a logon profile. It's also a good site to keep
for reference. The experts there will analyze the log and report back the
results. Please allow at least a days time for a response.

Remember, you must return to the HJT site to get your answer.

Additionally, be sure to make a backup of the Registry before you make any
changes.
