my computer constantly reboots after windows 2000 upgrade. How do I get it to
stop and move to the desktop?

It's a bit difficult to say exactly why the computer is stuck in a
continuous reboot loop. From which operating system did you try to
upgrade? My suggestion would be to start again but to wipe the hard
drive and install Windows 2000 cleanly.

My pc was originally windows 95 then upgraded to windows 98 and now it's
stuck in reboot loop with windows 2000. If I wipe the hard drive, what all do
I need to do a clean install. Such as any other additional files or discs?

First question: Do you have any files that you want or need to keep or
slavage from the drive?

Your description of the upgrade processes that the computer has been
through over the years leaves me with no other recommendation than to
cleanly install Windows 2000, anything else is doomed to fail and leave
you with a bad and unwarranted view of Windows 2000. Something that
does concern me a bit is whether or not your computer is suitably
capable of running Windows 2000, check here:

http://www.microsoft.com/windows2000/professional/evaluation/sysreqs/default.asp

These are the bare minimum requirements, for a more enjoyable experience
you should have at least double these requirements.

All that you need other than the Windows 2000 cd would be the proper
drivers for your hardware, you should be able to get these from the
manufacturers' web sites for your different hardware.

DO NOT connect the unpatched computer to the internet without a properly
configured firewall! As installed Windows 2000 is EXTREMELY vulnerable
to worms and virus if not properly protected. These are what I would
consider as bare minimum on a new Windows 2000 installation:

http://www.microsoft.com/windows2000/downloads/servicepacks/sp4/default.mspx
http://www.microsoft.com/windows2000/server/evaluation/news/bulletins/rollup.mspx

You should also upgrade Internet Explorer to version 6 SP1:
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/ie6/downloads/critical/ie6sp1/default.mspx

You can download and burn these large files to cd before you begin, it
makes installing and setting up Windows 2000 faster and easier.

but it's in a reboot loop and I can't get out of it. I need to get back to
dos in order for me to wipe the drive. This computer also has a secondary HD
for which I may just remove. It looks like the computer meets the minimum
requirements as well

If there are no files that you want to keep then just boot with the
Windows 2000 installation cd and delete then recreate the partition(s).
After you recreate the partitions exit the setup program and then
start the setup again (to avoid drive letter assignement surprises),
format the drive and install cleanly. If the computer just barely meets
the minimum requirements it will barely crawl!

John

PS: To boot with the CD you may have to go in the BIOS and set the boot
order to cd first.
