I posted a question the other day, but it did not help. I
am asking for more assistance please. My computer will
only boot up over, and over again. I cannot get past this.
I tried PF8, PF5, AND DELETE. These have not helped. The
option on PF 5 {I think it's pf5} is my XP disk. No other
options are given. When I put my XP disk in it doesn't
even recognize it. PLEASE HELP!!! I don't know what else
to do other then take it to Comp USA and pay atleast
$100.00 which is the just the fee to take it there. That
does not include the work done on it. I tried the Safe
Mode, and this did not even work. Any suggestions would be
greatly appreciated.

You could try to boot from your XP install CD. It will
offer you the option to reinstall or repair from the
recovery console. I have not used the recovery console,
but it may allow you to restore a previous system state
which should get you back where you belong. Worst case,
you should re-install xp on top of itself. You will get
your data back, but you may need to reinstall some apps.

If you go that route, I would back-up all of your data
and do a new clean install of everything (reformat,
relaod XP, apply all patches etc...). Depending on your
internet connection speed, plan on a full day for that.
If you do a full reload, make sure that you have all of
your necessary CD's. If you have an upgrade version of
XP, you will also need your previous version CD to
validate the upgrade or it will not work. Then you are
really in deep.
