Constant PINGing in the background

There is a constant pinging in the background every time I
have my pc opened (obviously in win 2000).
I have ran virus scans, and came out with nothing.
Verified that there was nothing jamming a keyboard button.
Checked processes running and ended all that were not
familiar to me.

My next step would be to uninstall games my little brother
installed, but this is a last resort.

It is still pinging. What can I look at next?

check all your cables in the back and make sure they are all seated

I verified all cables and they are all seated properly.

Is there anything else I can look at that could cause this
problem?

does the sound come from the satellite speakers or the speaker in the
computer case?explain opened ??
