I have an external disk in addition to the internal one.

I apparently turned it off some time to-day before the computer was of and
now I get constantly those darn reminders that Delayed Write failed etc.
etc.
How can I stop it? It drives me crazy and it is constantly now in fron of
me face while I am typing this.

I looked there first and opened a number of articles, but none pertained to
my problem.

And the problem is what - forgetfulness? Disconnect the drive using the
correct procedure or corrupt the drive!

Shut the machine down. Power up the external drive. Power up the machine.
When it has booted up, go into my computer, right click on the external's
icon and run a disk check. Fix any problems. When it has done, still in my
computer, right clik go into properties, and choose the hardware tab. Double
click on the exteral drive. Select the policies tab. Deselect 'Enable write
caching' so the box does not have a tick in it. Click the circle at the top
that says 'Optimize for quick removal'.
That should do it, and ensure that it doesn't happen again.

I turned off the computer for 10 minutes,
and it is gone.

BUT while it comes up with that message it drives you "bananas", it must
come up HUNDREDS of times and keeps on coming and coming.

Hi Karolus,

818788 - "{Delayed Write Failed}" Error Message When You Unplug a USB
2.0 Storage Device
When you unplug a Universal Serial Bus (USB) 2.0 storage device from
your computer, you may receive an error message that is similar to the
following: "{Delayed Write Failed} Windows was unable to save all the
data for the file \Device\ HardDiskVolume...

Hope this helps.

Hi again. I read that article earlier and now again.

The problem is that the area under policies where one should be able to
check off Delayed writing are checked, but grayed out and I cannot uncheck
it.

Just checked it again.
