Constant memory loss or leak

Using XP Pro on a 233 Dell Latitude with 192mb memory I am constantly watching my memory go from 145m
to 5 or 10 mb throughout the day. I can occur even when the machine my be idle or only some minor processes or running
I purchased a product called TurboMem and it helps me recover memory at given set up intervals or manually if if need it. I can also Scrub the Ram and recover what is available for working after the chunk the operating system needs. I have adjusted the page file to be 1.5 times the memory and even given excess allocation to the page file, did matter though

Are ther some items I can tweak to at least keep a resonable amout available to not hang up my processes so I can work with out these annoying slow donws, lock ups and stop having to go to the task manager and attempt to stop the processes which also get hung and do not respond for short periods of time
I keep the disks defragged, I run Norton Speed Disk in the middle of the night each day. All in all, performance is not that bad, running Cadd applications, plotting and printing functions and the Network is 100mb local and T1 external, no real slow down there. JUST LOOSING MEMORY and want to see what I can do to TUNE IT UP...

You could try disabling your screen saver (set it to None), and set your
wallpaper to None.

and just what good will that do in 2004? save 1mb of RAM out of his 192????

get with the program..... it is 2004, not 1993.

p.s. to answer the original post, there is a freeware utility that you can
pick up, I forget the name unfortunately, which manages the dlls in RAM and
defrags it on the fly. Supposed to help with memory leaks if the exact leak
cannot be found. It is similar to TurboMem. Which I am surprised is not
helping. Try CNET or ZDNET freeware spots for RAM cleaners.

An easier option of course is to do what Mac users have always done (Macs
are notorious for mismanaging RAM) - reboot your system every few hours....

We're talking about a memory leak - any poorly written application,
including a screen saver, can do this. Get with the program.
