My PC runs Windows XP, and is quite modern, nothing that would cause problems with modern software. Lately, I have been experiencing delays, as my computer get's worse and worse
Problem #1: On the "Welcome" screen, when logging into XP, the screen freezes for around one and a half minutes, although the hourglass cursor does not show, so I assume the system is doing nothing, after a while the hour class shows and it logs in. Does anyone know what's going wrong and how I can fix this? I have tried removing some startup programs, and clearing up the desktop etc... but this makes no difference
Problem #2: About 2 weeks after the problem above started, my taskbar started freezing, when I log in the taskbar freezes for around 2 minutes, leaving me helpless, if I mouseover the bar it shows a cursor + hourglass, but does not seem to be doing much. I check in Task Manager to see which progam is taking up alot of CPU power, but none are above 0, then I try ending the "explorer.exe", then reopening by making sure IE is open to type "C:\WINDOWS\explorer.exe", but this still makes no difference, the taskbar is still frozen. If any of you knwo what is wrong and/or how to fix it please tell me
Thanks alot
Mike
