I've been suffering numerous crashes on my Win 98 system on the older
computer I built. It's happening constantly in Outlook Express, Internet
Explorer, and Age of Empires II. I've tried reinstalling video drivers, and
reinstalling Windows, defragmenting the hard drive and scanning the entire
hard drive for errors. I got the latest patches and updates and scanned for
viruses. I'm running out of ideas. Is there a way to check for bad RAM
memory sectors? Could that be a cause? Is there a better newsgroup to
check? thanks

also, and I don't know how to do this, people say that prime 95 is an
excellent memory tester.

The only true way to test your memory is with a hardware memory tester
or if you have two sticks try each one separately in each slot.
Software RAM testers are not much use.

The SiSoft Sandra tech suites have memory checkers as part of their
toolkits. These are available even in the freebie downlaod versions.
