I service small customer machines, many of which don't
have internet access or a very slow dial-up.
After upgrading their Windows 95 or Windows 98 machines to
Microsoft Windows XP Home or Pro, I want to install the
newest fixes.

I want to download all the current - non supersceeded
fixes and burn a CDrom with them so I can hand carry with
me when I service such clients.

Is there a way to do this?

Thanks,
rob

Microsoft has recently upgraded Windows Update to include another section
called Windows Update Catalog, accessible through the same Windows Update
interface. From the Windows Update Catalog you can review all the operating
system updates that have been issued as well as the driver updates for hardware
devices.

Thanks Carey,
That pointed me to another question.
I want to download the Windows XP Professional fixes.
I have four choices --

Windows XP Professional RTM
Windows XP Professional SP1
Windows XP RTM
Windows XP SP1

I've looked all over the Update location and can't find
any reference to which group or groups I need to download
to be certain of having all the current fixes.
Can I assume the SP1 is Service Pack 1? Even though
Microsoft calls it SPK 1 every other place?
And what does RTM stand for? Nowhere does it mention RTM.
Is there a meeting I should have attended? A white paper
I should have read? Or a TS2 session I slept thru?
Can you please point me to a readme file I can read?
Is there a best practices available yet on using the
Windows Update Catalog?
Don't mean to imply I'm not greatfull for your help, but I
really would like to know, and I certainly appreciate your
answer.
Thanks for your help,
rob

RTM= Release to manufacturing. The original version of XP.
SP1= Service Pack one.

Click the Windows Update Catalog link on the left side menu of the Windows
Update website. If you don't see this link, click the Personalize Windows
Update link and select to show it there. On the next page, click the Find
updates for Windows operating systems link.

Select the OS you want the updates for and click the Search button. Click
the Critical Updates link. On each update you will see a "Read More" link,
click this to see the specific details for the update.
